asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the estimated number of new houses required at present to satisfy the housing requirements in (a) Dublin, (b) Cork, (c) Limerick, (d) Waterford and (e) Galway, and the number required in the remainder of the country, distinguishing between urban and rural needs.

Present needs, as represented by the 1947 estimates of needs, less the number of houses completed during the period from March, 1947, to the 31st May, 1952, are as follows:—
