Vol. 133 No. 7

Agricultural Workers (Weekly Half-Holidays) Bill, 1952—First Stage.

I move for leave to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to provide for the allowance of weekly half-holidays to agricultural workers and for certain matters connected therewith and to repeal the Agricultural Workers (Weekly Half-Holidays) Act, 1951.

Leave granted.

Could the Minister tell us when the Bill will be circulated?

Mr. Walsh

As soon as possible.

Has the Minister any idea when that will be?

Mr. Walsh

I have not at the moment.

Mr. Walsh

As early as possible after the recess.

Could the Minister give a date?

Mr. Walsh

The 22nd October.

Is it to be understood that the Bill will be circulated during the recess?

Mr. Walsh

If possible.

Is this a one clause Bill?

Mr. Walsh

Yes.

What is the trouble of getting it through before the recess?

Mr. Walsh

It is not ready yet.

Second Stage ordered for the 22nd October, 1952.
