Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Embankments.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the Limerick City Council are awaiting sanction to a scheme that was submitted to his Department on the 21st March, 1952, for repairs to a serious breach in the embankment on the Shannon, at Corbally, Limerick, which was caused by the storm of December, 1951, and resulted in serious flooding over a wide area of land, and that this work can only be successfully carried out when the Shannon waters are low, a condition which will not prevail after September, and if, owing to the urgency of the matter, he will give sanction to the scheme without delay.

The proposal referred to by the Deputy, which was submitted under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, has been approved. The corporation are being informed accordingly.
