Vol. 134 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - South Kerry Electricity Generating Station.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is now in a position to make an announcement regarding the provision of a turf-powered electricity generating station in South Kerry.

I am not yet in a position to make an announcement on the possibility of establishing smaller turf-fired electricity generating stations in certain turf-producing areas. The matter has been under active discussion with the Electricity Supply Board and Bord na Móna, and I am hopeful that specific proposals will shortly be available for consideration by the Government.
