Vol. 134 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Domestic Capital Formations.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the figures for (a) gross and (b) net domestic capital formation for the year 1951.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the total national income and how it was shared between (a) wages, (b) salaries, (c) company profits, (d) profits of small traders, (e) rent, (f) interest, and (g) dividends for the latest available year.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 5 and 7 together.

The latest available data on national income, capital formation, ect. will appear in the Irish Statistical Survey, 1950-51, which is at present being printed and which it is expected will be issued at the end of this month. In view of the fact that changes have been made in the concepts and methods used in the compilation which are impossible of adequate explanation within the limits of a reply such as this. I would ask that the Deputies would await the issue of the official estimates contained in the document in question.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state (a) the gross domestic capital formation for the nine months ended the 30th September, 1952 and (b) the estimated total gross domestic capital formation for the year 1952.

As to (a) of the Deputy's question, since data are not available for all constituents of gross domestic capital formation for periods less than a year, it is not possible to furnish the information asked for. As to (b), the Central Statistics Office is not in a position at this stage to forecast gross domestic capital formation for the year 1952.
