Vol. 134 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition and Division.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring for division among local uneconomic holders the lands at Cloondoyle Beg, Glenamaddy, County Galway, until recently the property of Mr. Martin J. Donelan; and, if so, with what result; and whether, if the Land Commission have at present no proceedings for the acquisition of these lands, he will ensure that the question of initiating such proceedings will receive immediate attention.

The Land Commission have under consideration the question of the acquisition of these lands but have not yet made a decision in the matter.

Is the Minister aware that the supposed purchaser bought this land on the evening after the Land Commission inspector had been there? Is the Minister further aware that this supposed purchaser is an individual who, 20 years ago, got 16 acres of land in addition from the Land Commission and has it set since the day he got it?

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have yet sanctioned a scheme for the division and allotment of the Kelly estate at Maddenstown, Suncroft, County Kildare; and, if so, whether such scheme provides for local applicants.

There has been no material change in the position since my reply to a similar question by Deputy Norton on 15th July last.

Was the allotment not made?
