Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - State Companies.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state, in respect of each of the companies named in the Schedule of the State Guarantees Bill, 1952; (1) the amount of remuneration received by each director, and (2) the date on which each of these companies was established.

The information asked for by the Deputy is as follows:—

Fuel Importers (Eire) Limited: The directors do not receive any remuneration. The company was established on the 8th July, 1940.

Grain Importers (Eire) Limited: The directors do not receive any remuneration. The company was established on the 29th September, 1939.

Tea Importers Limited: The directors do not receive any remuneration. The company was established on the 8th July, 1941.

Irish Steel Holding Limited: The chairman is in receipt of £350 a year and the other two directors receive £250 a year each. The company was established on the 20th June, 1947.

Great Northern Railway Company (Ireland): There is no information available as to the remuneration of the directors of the company, but the financial accounts of the company for the year ended 31st December, 1951, show that fees totalling £3,975 were voted by the shareholders to the directors in respect of that year.

The company was constituted in 1876 through the amalgamation of four companies pursuant to powers contained in the special Acts relating to the companies, and the present company was incorporated under the Great Northern Railway (Ireland) Act, 1877.

Irish Potato Marketing Company Limited: I am informed by the Minister for Agriculture that the directors do not receive any remuneration and that the company was established on the 16th February, 1950.
