Vol. 134 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Water Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state what stage of development has now been reached in the North County Dublin regional water scheme, and when a supply will be available for the Malahide area.

Tenders have been accepted by the Dublin County Council for the three sections of the scheme to serve the high level areas of Ballymun, Finglas, Blanchardstown and Castleknock and work has commenced on foot of one of the contracts.

Proposals for the sections to serve the low level areas of Coolock, Portmarnock and Malahide are at present under consideration by the council. The laying of a main from Balcurris to Coolock has been approved and will be carried out as an extra on one of the existing contracts. Contract drawings for the extension of the scheme to Malahide have been generally approved and the submission of the remaining contract documents is now awaited.

I am not in a position to state when a supply will be available for the Malahide area.
