Vol. 135 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Commission on Emigration.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if the Commission on Emigration has yet furnished its report to the Government; and, if so, why it has not been placed on the Tables of both Houses of the Oireachtas; and, further, if he will state the names of the members of the commission, the date of their first sitting, the total number of their sittings and if the report has not been furnished when it is likely to be.

The Report of the Commission on Emigration and Other Population Problems has not yet been furnished to the Government but I am informed that every effort is being made by the commission to have it furnished at the earliest possible date.

The first sitting of the commission took place on the 22nd April, 1948, and the total number of its sittings to date is 94. There were, however, as well as these formal sittings, frequent meetings in committee and sub-committee.

With regard to the names of the present members of the commission I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate the list with the Official Report.

Following is the list:—
