Vol. 135 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take the business in the following order: Nos. 3, 7, 12; in 12, Vote No. 6, and Nos. 8, 9 and 10. It is proposed that consideration of No. 12 be interrupted from 6 o'clock to 7.30 in order to take Nos. 8, 9, 10. Private Deputies' Business will be taken at 9 o'clock.

Would the Tánaiste say at this stage until what date in December it is proposed to ask the Dáil to sit?

I hope that it will be possible to get some discussion between the Whips with a view to an arrangement which will enable the House to adjourn in the second week in December.

I am not quite clear about that, the 12th, I think?

Yes, that is the target anyway.

Is the adjournment date to be the 12th?

It is quite obvious that we cannot decide definitely at this stage that it will be possible to adjourn then, but I should hope that we will.

Will the Tánaiste let the Whips have a list of the legislation which the House is to be asked to be put through?

The legislation before the House can be divided into two classes: a certain number of items which must be passed this session because there is a time factor operating and those which we desire to have passed.

Will the Minister for Finance be asked to stop his speech before the 12th December?

Is it clear that at 7.30 we go back to the Order of Business wherever we left off at 6 o'clock?

Yes, or if the three Bills should be finished before that.

Can the Tánaiste give us any indication of when we will get the Courts of Justice Bill?

There is nothing new.

It will be circulated to-day.

When will the other Bills in respect of which there is a time limit and of which the Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach has already advised me be circulated?

The only one not circulated is the Expiring Laws Bill and, as the Deputy knows, that is quite a formal Bill. It will be available this week.

Mr. Walsh

It is the same as last year.

That is what we want to know: whether it is a purely formal Bill or whether something new is to be added.

There is a very small schedule of expiring laws to be carried on. It shrinks and shrinks.

Mr. O'Higgins

When will No. 1 be taken?

Next session.

Is there any decision yet about sittings for next week? That is another matter on which we might have some discussion.
