Vol. 135 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Timber Imports from Russia.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the circumstances under which timber was imported from Russia, and if supplies of suitable timber were not available from other sources.

There is no official control over the importation of timber except that importers must comply with the foreign exchange regulations administered by the Department of Finance. The Minister for Finance in a reply given to a question asked on November 22nd, 1952, dealt with the circumstances in which currency was granted for the timber to which the Deputy refers.
