Vol. 135 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Artificial Insemination Station.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange for the establishment of an artificial insemination station and sub-stations in Laois-Offaly; and, if so, if he will state when such will be established.

The South Eastern Cattle Breeding Society's main artificial insemination station at Dovea, County Tipperary, at present provides a limited service in part of the Laois area; the establishment in the Laois area of a sub-station to that main station is also envisaged, but I cannot at present say how soon it will be possible for the society to establish the sub-station.

It is hoped that it will be possible to establish in the Offaly area for the 1953 season a sub-station to my Department's main artificial insemination station at Grange, County Meath.

The establishment of a main artificial insemination station in the Laois-Offaly area cannot at present be envisaged.
