Vol. 136 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Insemination Centre.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is his intention to have a cattle insemination centre established in County Donegal and thereby give the small farmers and crofters of Donegal an opportunity of improving their milk and beef yields.

Mr. Walsh

The position remains as indicated in my reply to the Deputy's previous question in this matter on 14th February, 1952.

Did the Minister suggest at a meeting of a county committee of agriculture or some such body in Sligo that the Department was seriously considering setting up an artificial insemination centre for the Counties Leitrim, Sligo and Donegal?

Mr. Walsh

Yes, some time in the future.

The how far distant future?

The foreseeable future.

You will see it from the other side of the House.
