Vol. 136 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the contractor has completed the Boherbue water supply, Country Cork, for over 12 months and that the pumps are on the site for some time and not yet installed; and, if so, what action his Department intend to take in the matter.

The completion of the Boherbue water supply scheme is a matter between the sanitary authority and the contractors. I understand that the pumping plant was recently delivered to the site.

asked the Minister for Local Government if his Department has yet received an application for sanction for a regional water supply for Freemount, Dressine, Newtown-Shandrum, Liscarroll and Churchtown, County Cork; and, if so, when sanction will be given.

Sanction has not been sought for a regional scheme for the area mentioned. I understand that the regional proposal was abandoned because of the difficulty in finding a reliable source.
