Vol. 136 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Removal of County Cork Bridge.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the bridge over the Dripsey River where it joins the Lee is to be removed by the E.S.B. in connection with their hydro-electric scheme; and, if so, if he will state what alternative provision is to be made, so that persons in the area will not be seriously inconvenienced by having to make long detours.

The location of the bridge over the Dripsey River to be substituted for the bridge to which the question refers is shown on the plan attached to the River Lee Hydroelectric Scheme Approval Order 1949 (S.I. No. 321 of 1949), of which a copy has been laid before the Dáil.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that it is not intended to interfere with the existing bridge for about three years from now. In the meantime the board will be prepared to consider any representations which may be made to them about the proposed alternative bridge accommodation.
