asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the total number of unemployed in North Kerry at present and also give the figures of unemployed registered at the latest available date at each employment exchange in the area.

While statistical information of the nature mentioned is available concerning County Kerry as a whole, separate information relating to North Kerry is not available.

In a tabular statement which I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report, particulars are given of (1) the numbers of persons resident in County Kerry registered atthe local offices of my Department which serve the northern part of the county and (2) the numbers of persons registered at local offices which are situated in the northern part of the county. In each case the figures relate to the latest date for which the information is available.

Following is the statement:—

1. Numbers of persons resident in County Kerry who were registered on Saturday, 21st February, 1953, at Local Offices of the Department of Social Welfare serving North Kerry.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the number of persons registered as unemployed in the town and County of Sligo in the first week of each of the years 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1953.

Statistical returns showing the number of persons registered at local offices of my Department according to their place of residence are compiled only in respect of the Saturday immediately preceding the last Monday of each month. Accordingly, the tabular statement, which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate withthe Official Report, gives in respect of that Saturday in January, 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1953 the numbers resident in the town and County of Sligo on the live register.

Following is the statement:—

NUMBERS of persons resident in (i) the Borough of Sligo and (ii) the rest of the County registered on the dates mentioned (Saturdays).
