Vol. 136 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Warsaw Convention.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state how the Warsaw Convention, as defined in Section 2 of the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 1936, came into force in respect of this country on 19th December, 1935, as provided in the said section.

The Irish Government acceded to the Warsaw Convention by means of a formal notification made to the Government of the Polish Republic on 20th September, 1935. In accordance with the provisions of the convention the accession became operative 90 days after the deposit of the formal notification, that is to say, on 19th December, 1935.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether the Executive Council or their successors in office have made an Order certifying who are the high contracting parties within the meaningof the Warsaw Convention; and, if so, when.

No Order has been made under Section 17 of the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 1936, certifying who are the high contracting parties to the Warsaw Convention.

Is not the Executive Council in a position to certify whether or not this country would be a high contracting party to the Warsaw Convention?

I have nothing to add to the reply I have given.
