Vol. 137 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Capital Services.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total sum provided in the Supplementary Estimates, 1952-53, amounting to £9,276,725, which are capital services as defined in the Estimates for Public Services, 1951-52.

The net additional amount provided by way of Revised and Supplementary Estimates for "capital" items in the Supply Services, 1952-53, is £275,300.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total amount of expenditure out of governmental funds for capital investment purposes in the present financial year and in each of the financial years from 1948 to 1952 inclusive.

It is assumed that the term "governmental funds" in the question covers funds such as the Local Loans Fund, Hospitals Trust Fund and the Transition Development Fund as well as issues from the Exchequer for capital purposes and investment of departmental funds in Dublin and Cork Corporation stocks. On this basis, total capital expenditure financed from Government funds in the years 1948-1949 to 1951-1952 was as follows:—

£Million

1948-49

13.6

1949-50

25.7

1950-51

26.5

1951-52

41.2

The figures for 1952-53 will not be available until the year has closed.
