Vol. 137 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Health Services.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the total sum provided in the Estimate for his Department for the year 1953-54 which is attributable to provision for the increased cost of the health services due to the provisions of the Health Bill, 1952.

I would refer the Deputy to page 392 of the Volume of Estimates for Public Services for 1953-54 which shows the anticipated expenditure by health authorities on "Extension of HealthServices not provided for in the foregoing Estimates" at £600,000. The Estimate for my Department, in respect of that item, includes an amount of £285,000, being 95 per cent. of half that sum. The remaining 5 per cent. will, in accordance with normal practice, be paid after the end of the year.
