Vol. 137 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dental Benefits.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is now in a position to indicate when dental benefits will again be provided for insured persons.

Pending a decision by the dental profession on proposals which have been made by me for a resumption of dental benefit I am unable to indicate when the benefit will again be provided for insured persons.

Could the Minister at this stage hazard any guess as to when these negotiations are likely to conclude and when benefits will be resumed?

I could not say when they may conclude. Negotiations have been resumed.

Are they progressing favourably?

It would be about time that we had some finality in regard to this matter.

Are these negotiations progressing favourably?

I would not like to say that either.

We may take it that they are not progressing favourably.
