Vol. 137 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pensions Time Limit.

asked the Minister for Defence if he proposes to extend the time limit under the Military Service Pensions Acts for the acceptance of new applications for military service pensions and for service medals, if necessary by the introduction of proposals for legislation.

As I stated on the Second Stage of the Military Service Pensions (Amendment) Bill, 1952, I propose to make regulations providing for the extension of the time limit for the acceptance of applications for service certificates under the Military Service Pensions Acts from persons who had not applied before the expiration of the previous time limit, that is, the 7th June, 1952.

I also stated on that occasion that I proposed introducing an Army Pensions Bill which would, among other things, extend the date of application for service medals, which would carry eligibility for special allowances.
