Vol. 137 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Portable Creamery (County Kerry).

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware of the necessity to provide a portable creamery for the Cromane and Caragh Lake districts, County Kerry; and, if so, if he is now in a position to come to a decision in the matter.

Mr. Walsh

The Dairy Disposal Company Limited is, I understand, at present arranging to carry out a further investigation to ascertain the present position regarding milk supplies in the Cromane and Caragh Lake districts. When I receive the company's report I will communicate again with the Deputy in the matter.

Is the Minister aware that the first report submitted by Mr. O'Friel was to the effect that in the particular district 200 gallons per day was the maximum supply available and that I submitted statistics obtained from the local Garda station setting out that in the particular area indicated by Mr. O'Friel there were 720 cows, which proves that Mr. O'Friel's first report was not in accordance with the facts?

Is the Deputy making a speech or asking a question?

Mr. Walsh

I take it that as a result of that information the further investigation is being carried out.
