Vol. 137 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allenwood Power Station Valuation.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if it is correct that the Allenwood power station has been valued for £8,500 under the Valuation Acts but that it is exempt from rating under the Electricity Supply (Amendment) Act, 1945; and, if so, whether he will take steps to introduce proposals for amending legislation so that the Kildare County Council will not lose the revenue therefrom.

Legislation to amend the provisions of Section 12 of the Electricity (Supply) (Amendment) Act, 1930, under which exemption from rates applies to the Allenwood powerstation is not at present in contemplation. The station has been valued at £8,500 in respect of buildings and £14 13s. in respect of lands.

Does the Minister realise that that would mean a saving of 10d. in the rates of Kildare County Council?

I refer the Deputy to the reply given by my predecessor to a similar question two years ago.
