Vol. 138 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Farmers' Hospital Payments.

asked the Minister for Health if he can state the amount paid by farmers in the County of Cork with valuations of £50 and under for treatment in public wards in voluntary or rate-aided hospitals in the course of the last calendar year.

asked the Minister for Health if he can state the amount which farmers in the County of Cavan with valuations of £50 and under, paid for treatment in public wards at the rate-aided and voluntary hospitals during the last calendar year.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 29 and 30 together.

In so far as local authority hospitals are concerned I would refer the Deputies to the reply which I gave to a similar question by Deputy O'Higgins on the 23rd October, 1952.

I have no information in regard to voluntary hospitals and I do not consider it would be reasonable to ask these hospitals for the information in view of the difficulties which its compilation would involve.
