Vol. 138 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural Production Statistics.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the value of the gross agricultural production at current prices (excluding turf) and making allowances for changes in live stock between the beginning and end of the year of inquiry, for 1951 and 1952.

The total value of the gross agricultural output (excluding turf) in 1951, compiled according to the methods explained on pp. 81-86 of the Irish Trade Journal and Statistical Bulletin, June, 1952, was £135,717,000 No account is taken of the value of the changes in the number of live stock on farms in arriving at that total. The value of the changes in live-stock numbers between the beginning and end of that year was minus £1,131,000. The corresponding data for 1952 are not yet available.
