Vol. 138 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Home Grown Wheat Statistics.

asked the Taoiseach if hewill state the quantity of native wheat delivered to millers for conversion into flour in respect of the 281,637 acres of wheat sown in 1951.

The total quantity, adjusted for inter-mill sales of native wheat delivered to millers, including permit holders, for conversion into flour and wheaten meal, during the year ended 31st August, 1952, was 3,941.000 cwt. of which 3,735,000 cwt. were delivered to flour millers.

The precise quantity of wheat delivered to mills for conversion into flour, as distinct from wheaten meal, cannot be stated, as some mills produce both flour and wheaten meal; neither is it possible to state from which crop native wheat delivered to mills is derived, but in general the deliveries during the 12 months ended 31st August would relate to the crop grown in the previous year.
