Vol. 138 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killybegs Employment Exchange.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware of the recent closing down of the employment exchange branch office at Killybegs, County Donegal, and, if so, in view of the considerable inconvenience which will be caused to the unemployed of the Gaeltacht and congested areas of South West Donegal generally, he will take immediate steps to have this branch office reopened forthwith.

The former manager of the branch employment office in Killybegs resigned his appointment on 10th May, 1953, having given the required three months' notice. The vacancy wasadvertised and arrangements were made for the appointment of a new branch manager, on whom would rest the responsibility for providing suitable office accommodation. The proposed new appointee has experienced some difficulty in acquiring premises and, in the meantime, the work of the office is being performed temporarily in Letterkenny Employment Exchange. It is the intention of the Department to reopen the branch office in the Killybegs area as soon as suitable premises become available.
