Vol. 139 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New School for County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the need for a new school at the village of Palmerstown, County Dublin, owing to rapid building development in the area; and, if so, if he will state what steps have been taken in this connection to provide school accommodation in the immediate future.

I am aware of the need for the provision of additional school accommodation for children from the new houses which are being erected by the Dublin Corporation and by private enterprise in the Ballyfermot extension and Palmerstown areas, and my Department is giving the matter urgent attention in collaboration with the other interests involved. The question of the provision of a suitable site for new schools is being investigated at present. When a suitable site has been obtained the other necessary preliminary arrangements will be attended to as expeditiously as possible.
