Vol. 139 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Bridge.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that a scheme was submitted to his Department for the erection of a bridge at Coole, Killoscully, County Tipperary; and, further, that the local contribution was paid some months ago; and, if so, if he will take steps to have the bridge erected without further delay.

An application was made under the rural improvements scheme in March, 1952, for a footbridge. The required local contribution was received on 22nd September, 1952, and the work was sanctioned for execution in October, 1952. It was not, however, possible to carry out the work during the winter months.

When arrangements were being made to put the work in hands in April, 1953, the beneficiaries requested that a traffic bridge be provided instead.

As the Deputy has been informed, an offer has now been made of a supplemental grant towards the additional cost of the traffic bridge, and as soon as the further local contribution is received from the beneficiaries arrangements will be made to carry out the work.
