Vol. 139 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Factory for Listowel.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if any steps are being taken to establish a factory in Listowel; and if, in view of the present high degree of unemployment in that district, and the ready availability of native fuel, he will ensure the sympathetic and urgent consideration of such proposals.

I have no proposals before me, at present, for the establishment of an industry in Listowel. Needless to say, any definite proposals which may be submitted for the setting up of an industry in Listowel will be carefully examined. The Undeveloped Areas Act applies to County Kerry and, consequently, any group interested in a new industrial undertaking in the Listowel area could approach Foras Tionscal for assistance under the provisions of that Act.
