Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will furnish the names of the 45 local authorities to which the Taoiseach referred recently whose housing requirement programmes are completed or about to be completed.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

The statement of the Taoiseach was based on the following position which obtained at the 31st December, 1952.

LOCAL AUTHORITIES WHOSE POST-WAR HOUSING PROGRAMMES, AS FORMULATED IN 1947, WERE COMPLETED OR NEARING COMPLETION.

1. Authorities whose 1947 housing needs were satisfied by houses completed up to 31st December, 1952.

County Councils(6):

Laoighis.

Leitrim.

Meath.

Roscommon.

Sligo.

Westmeath.

Urban District Councils(11):

An Uaimh.

Bundoran.

Cavan.

Longford.

Macroom.

Mallow.

Trim.

Carrickmacross.

Castleblayney.

Dungarvan.

Thurles.

Town Commissioners(10):

Balbriggan.

Ballyshannon.

Callan.

Droichead Nua.

Edenderry.

Gorey.

Loughrea.

Passage West.

Roscommon.

Tuam.

2. Authorities whose 1947 needs would be satisfied when schemes in progress at 31st December, 1952, would be completed.

Town Commissioners(4):

3. Authorities the balance of whose 1947 needs would be satisfied by schemes for which tenders had been invited or accepted at 31st December, 1952.
