Vol. 141 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Erection of County Cork Schools.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state when it is intended to advertise for tenders for the erection of a new national school at Clondulane, Fermoy.

Arrangements for the erection of the proposed new school at Clondulane, County Cork, are in the hands of the Commissioners of Public Works, and I understand that tenders for the work will shortly be invited.

asked the Minister for Education if he is in a position to statewhen the proposed national school will be erected at Kiskeam, County Cork.

I am advised that a suitable site is now available for the proposed new school at Kiskeam, County Cork. Certain preliminary arrangements have to be made before a grant can be sanctioned towards the cost of the new school or work on the building can be put in hands. As these arrangements will inevitably take some time to complete, I am unable to say at present when the new school will be erected, but every effort will be made to expedite the matter.

asked the Minister for Education if he is in a position to state when the new vocational school will be erected at Charleville, County Cork.

Sketch plans for a four-room vocational school to be erected at Charleville are at present being prepared and it is expected that the committee will be in a position to proceed with the building of the school about April, 1954.
