Vol. 141 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Loan Terms.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the date and the amount for which the proposed national loan will be floated, (b) whether the terms of the proposed loan will be equivalent to the terms applied last year, and (c) whether the amount of the proposed loan will meet the full amount of capital development forecast in the Budget statement for the current year.

The amount, terms and date of issue of the proposed national loan will be announced later in the year.

I hope it will not be on the scandalous terms of the last one.

It will be on terms that will attract the money.

If that is the criterion we had better sell out to the moneylenders right away.

A forced loan! That is what the Deputy wants.

I do not want to put the country in pawn to the moneylenders at 5 per cent.

You already pawned it.

The Deputy wants a forced loan.
