Vol. 141 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will ascertain from the E.S.B. when Abbeyknockmoy, County Galway, may expect to receive a supply of current.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the Abbeyknockmoy area has been considered by the board on a number of occasions for development under the rural electrification scheme. The area will be considered again in the future but I am not in a position to state when development is likely to take place.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that a ground limestone plant could be operated in Kilgarvan, County Kerry, if power were available and if, in view of the increasing demand for ground limestone by farmers in the area, hewill request the E.S.B. to supply rural electrification to Kilgarvan.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the development of the Kilgarvan area under the rural electrification scheme will be considered by the board within the next few weeks and that the contemplated use of electric current for the operation of the ground limestone plant has improved considerably the prospects of the area being selected for development.
