Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tea Importers Limited Overdraft.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the amount of bank overdraft of Tea Importers Limited for the years 1951-52 and 1952-53; (b) the amount paid in interest for such bank overdraft for each of the above years, and (c) the trading loss for each of those years.

(a) The total indebtedness of Tea Importers Limited to their bankers at the 31st March, 1952, was £5,136,072 and at the 31st March, 1953 £3,568,358; (b) the cost of bank accommodation in the year to 31st March, 1952 was £127,211 and in the year to 31st March, 1953, £197,555; (c) Tea Importers Limited is a non-profit making company and in the trading year to the 31st March, 1952, received payments from the Exchequer to enable it to sell rationed tea to retail at a subsidised price. The final amount of subsidy to which the company is entitled in the trading year to the 31st March, 1953 has not been determined.
