Vol. 142 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Afforestation Schemes.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that the proposed afforestation schemes at Killacloghane and Kilderry and Caragh Lake districts are being considered by his Department for some considerable time, and whether he is now in a position to sanction the operation of the schemes referred to.

A total area of 464 acres has been acquired in the townlands of Lickeen, Drombrane, Faha and Curra and development has started. This represents a commencement of forestry operations in the area.

Title investigations are in progress in respect of 86½ acres at Killacloghane wood and 64½ acres at Kilderry (town-land of Knockagarrane).

As regards the Caragh Lake district, investigation of title is in progress for 76 acres at Glannagilliah. Negotiations are proceeding for purchase of 206 acres at Coos and 139 acres at Lyranes Lower.
