Vol. 142 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Grazing Rights.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware of the claims made for compensation by certain tenants who had prescriptive grazing rights on the outskirts of the Lickeen forestry scheme (Eagar estate); and, if so, what steps are being taken to satisfy the demands of these tenants.

I am aware that part of the area acquired at Killorglin Forest (Eagar estate) is subject to certain grazing rights. The question of extinguishing these rights by purchase or rearrangement is receiving attention but, in the meantime, no forestry work is being done on the particular area affected by rights and no grounds for claims for compensation have arisen.
