Vol. 142 No. 6

Order of Business.

An Tanáiste

It is proposed to take business in the following order: No. 7 (Votes 51 and Supplementary Estimate, 52, 53 and 67), and then Nos. 14 and 5. It is proposed to interrupt business at 6 p.m. to take Nos. 14and 5, and if these matters are concluded before 9 p.m. to resume the discussion on the Estimates. Private Deputies' business will be taken at 9.30.

Might I ask if it would be possible by arrangement between the Whips for the Estimates which are still on the Order Paper to be disposed of, other than the Taoiseach's Estimate, on which policy could be discussed, because in a few months' time we will be coming back to the Estimates again, and there is quite a lot of constructive and important work to be done by the House which is being held up by these discussions on Estimates in which very few people are taking any interest whatsoever?

That is entirely a matter for the Whips.

Could the Tánaiste indicate the order in which it is proposed to take the remaining Estimates?

An Tanáiste

It was intended to take them in the order set out on the Order Paper but circumstances may arise which may require some departure from that.
