Vol. 142 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Droichead Nua Post Office.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the deplorable condition of the approach to and the front of the post office in Droichead Nua; and, if so, if he will have urgent steps taken to have the matter remedied.

I am aware that conditions at Droichead Nua post office are in need of improvement and am arranging for repairs to the approaches to be carried out at an early date.

Can the Minister say whether these repairs will be carried out as early as possible? Is the Minister aware that the approaches to the building are in a scandalous condition? People have to go through two feet of water on occasions to get into it.

Has that been the position for only two or three years?

Would the Minister also instruct his colleague from Sligo who does not know anything about the matter that it was the Minister who moved the post office—and very properlymoved it in the long event— to the present premises? Will he now see that people can get into the building without becoming filthy or having to go through the type of dirt we get from Deputy Gilbride?
