Vol. 142 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sulphate Ammonia and Sulphuric Acid.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether he has received from Ceimicí Teoranta any recommendations or report relating to the manufacture of sulphate ammonia and sulphuric acid; and, if so, whether he will indicate the general content of such recommendations or report and what action he proposes to take on the matter.

Investigations have been undertaken, under the aegis of Ceimicí Teoranta, into the possibility of producing, from native raw materials as far as possible, our requirements of sulphuric acid and nitrogenous fertiliser. These investigations are proceeding but it will not be possible for some time to indicate what the final decision will be as the considerations governing it, being both complex and numerous, require detailed investigation.
