Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Standard Mark Licences.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the number of applications received for licences to use the standard specification mark and the commodities covered by these applications, (b) the number of licences granted and the commodities covered, and (c) the number of applications rejected and the commodities affected.

To date 61 applications have been received for licences to use the standard mark. All the applications were granted and the licences issued covered 25 commodities; with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I am circulating details of these commodities with the Official Report.

The following are the details of the commodities for which Standard Mark Licences have been issued.

Asbestos cement slates and sheets.

Bituminous roofing felt.

Cotton bed sheetings and cotton bed sheets.

Concrete cylindrical pipes.

Concrete interlocking roofing tiles.

Concrete land drainage pipes.

Concrete plain roofing tiles and fittings.

Flush wood doors.

Gold size.

Gypsum plasterboard.

Gypsum plasters.

Hard gloss paints and enamels.

Hydrated lime for building purposes.

Irish handwoven tweed.

Knotting.

Linseed oil putty.

Liquid driers for paints.

Panelled wood doors.

Ready mixed oil paints.

School paper stationery.

Tungsten filament general service electric lamps.

Varnish.

Water paints and distempers for interior use.

Woollen blankets.

Zink chromate primers for use on aluminium and light alloys.
