Vol. 142 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Borough Boundary.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state when a proposal for the extension of the boundary of the county borough of Cork was received in his Department and when it is hoped to give a decision regarding it.

A petition for a Provisional Order extending the boundary of Cork County Borough was received on 21st April, last, and maps of the proposed extension were received on the 9th May. Legal examination of the proposal has been completed and other technical investigations are proceeding. A local inquiry in the matter is being arranged for early in the New Year.

Is the Minister aware that T.B. patients and their dependents are suffering great hardship owing to the delay in extending the boundary because, although they are living in corporation houses, they are in receipt of a far lower rate of benefit since they reside outside the borough? I would ask the Minister to expedite this matter.

I give that assurance to the Deputy.
