Vol. 142 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tubbercurry Town Park.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether he will make a grant available for the development and extension of the town park at Tubbercurry, County Sligo, to provide an amenity for the residents of the town and a sporting pitch for athletics and games.

No proposals for the development of a park at Tubbercurry have been received by my Department. The selection of schemes to be executed in the area with the aid of the allocation from the Employment Schemes Vote is a matter in the first instance for the Sligo County Council, who were informed that consideration would be given to any proposals for carrying out works, other than road works, with a high unskilled labour content. They have submitted a scheme for the provision of footpaths in the town of Tubbercurry: this scheme, which is at present under examination, would absorb the portion of the county allocation available for the Tubbercurry area.
