Vol. 142 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Post Office.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will have a post office established in Lecanvey, Westport, County Mayo, in view of its increasing importance in recent years as a tourist and seaside resort.

The amount of postal business likely to be transacted would not justify the cost of establishing and maintaining a sub-post office at Lecanvey.

Is the Minister aware that this place has developed and grown in recent years sufficiently to make the establishment of a separate post office there necessary for at least the summer months? Would the Minister consider establishing a post office for locals and tourists for a half year, say the six months from May onwards?
