Vol. 143 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Emigration Statistics.

asked the Taoiseach ifhe will give particulars of the number of Irish persons who have emigrated by sea from Irish and British ports to (a) the United States; (b) Canada, and (c) Australia in each of the years 1950, 1951 and 1952 and in the first three quarters of this year.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the required information for the years 1950, 1951 and 1952. The only data for 1953 which are at present available and are included in the table relate to emigrants through Irish ports for the first six months of the year.

Following is the statement:—
