Vol. 143 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Project Machinery.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state (a) if the land project machinery was sold by public auction or privately in County Wexford, (b) the names and addresses of the people who are doing land project work by contract in this area, and (c) the amount of money paid by the purchasers of this machinery.

As to (a), land reclamation machinery, including that advertised for sale in County Wexford, is being sold by private tender. As to (b), it is not the practice to publicise by way of answer to Dáil questions, the names and addresses of contractors. As to (c) in the question, I would refer the Deputy to the reply given on 22nd July last to a question by Deputy Sweetman regarding the sale of land reclamation machinery.

I put down this question because I have been asked for information by farmers who have this machinery, who purchased it. I do not know who has the machinery now which formerly belonged to the State.

Mr. Walsh

If the Deputy will make inquiries at the district office of the land reclamation scheme, he will be told.

It is very little information one will get in these district offices.
