Vol. 143 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ennis Parking Regulations.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that certain signs which were recently erected in the streets of Ennis to control the parking of vehicles have resulted in a serious interference with business; and, if so, whether he will take steps to have the parking regulations altered so that arrangements made to convenience motorists will not have a detrimental effect on the interests of the business people of the town.

Mr. Boland

The signs in question were erected by the Clare County Council to indicate the restrictions on parking set out in the Ennis Traffic (Parking and Waiting) By-laws, 1940, which were made by the Commissioner, Garda Síochána, after consultation with, and with the consent of the Ennis Urban District Council. I am not aware that the signs themselves cause any obstruction to traffic. Neither am I aware that there has been any general demand for a relaxation of the by-laws.
