Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hospitals' Trust Board Investments.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state (a) the loss on sales of investments by the Hospitals' Trust Board in each of the years 1948 to 1953 and (b) the amount remaining to the credit of the commission at a recent convenient date.

In the years 1948, 1950 and 1951, there was a net profit on the sales of investments.

The net loss on the sale of investments held by the Hospitals' Trust Board in each of the years 1949, 1952 and 1953 was as follows:—1949, £436,366 8s. Od.; 1952, £383,779 2s. 9d.; 1953, £31,895 2s. 11d.

The balance in the Hospitals' Trust Fund remaining to the credit of the board at the 31st October, 1953, was £337,913 15s. Od.
