Vol. 143 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Welfare Officials.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of the years 1930, 1940, 1950 and 1953 the number of (a) established, (b)unestablished, (c) part-time and (d) full-time non-industrial local authority employees for which he is the appropriate Minister.

The information is not available in the form or to the extent required by the Deputy. According to returns furnished by the local authorities in 1948, after the setting-up of the Department of Social Welfare, the number of non-industrial employees in respect of whom I am the appropriate Minister, was 724, of whom 118 were whole-time and 606 part-time. The corresponding figures for 1953 are 707, with 134 whole-time and 573 part-time.
