The total number of men employed on the schemes financed from the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote in the week ended 31st October, 1953, which is the latest date for which complete returns are available,was 1,406. The corresponding figures for equivalent dates in 1950, 1951 and 1952 are, respectively, 1,019, 1,266 and 1,594.
